Bronze cast door handles in the form of pair of doves with door plates for standard interior doors made in 1970's. These striking, almost in flight bird sculptures are a welcoming entrance into an abode. Doves have long been seen as a symbol for eternal peace. The word 'dove' is of Norse origin and first appeared in the 14th century as 'dova' or 'douve'. When we gaze upon the push and pull cast bronze door handles shaped like birds we are reminded of these peaceful feathered friends. Doves are a potent symbol of devotion and loyalty. Their devotion is also seen in the way they share responsibility in caring. They also send a message of love, hope and peace. Attributed to Harjes Metallkunst, this family run business started in 1912 in the metal art workshop in Harjes. The company produced candle holders, bowls and other object in bronze, copper and brass.
