Pair of elegant and timeless Mid Century lounge chairs designed and foot stool by the legendary T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings. U.S.A., Widdicomb Furniture Co, circa 1955, United States. Two armchairs and one matching foot stool with streamlined solid walnut frame fully refinished and newly reupholstered with mouse grey wool felt. T. H. Robsjohn-Gibbings (1903–1976) was a British-born architect and furniture designer took up residence in New York and American citizen in 1940. The design work of T. H. Robsjohn Gibbings is hallmarked as a modern mixture of the classical elements of Ancient Grecian design, and Art Deco design. Robsjohn-Gibbings worked as a designer for the Widdicomb Furniture Company in Grand Rapids, Michigan from 1943 to 1956. His furniture line was hailed as a triumph by House Beautiful, and his design featured in the landmark Good Design exhibit of 1951 at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. His furniture has been collectible for the past decade
