Code: 10541

The sculptural coat rack Passe Passe (2011) by Philippe Nigro for Ligne Roset (French modern furniture company founded in 1973) in antracite stained beech contemporary design for bathroom, bedroom or entrance. The meaning of Passe Passe is trick, ruse or farce. The Passe Passe is firmly rooted in the Avant-garde movement surrealism of the early 20th century. It is the use of irrational juxtapositions of objects. In this example, there are two ladders seemly leaning together defining gravity without collapsing; but is a coat rack. The French designer Philippe Nigro the assemblage of two ordinary every day ladders, it seems as those inspiration comes from the works Andre Breton or Sigmund Freud and his book, ‘The Interpretation of dreams (1899).’
